| If the wind is blowing over 25 knots and you're riding the anchor for the night - SET THE HOOK AND KEEP AN EYE ON IT! |

Hmmm. Let me think. Water's 30 feet deep, have 15 ft chain, so letting out 45 feet should be just the ticket.
<< NOT! >>
Have a fun time, Mike...

The above is hyperbole. 45 ft is not the correct answer. |

| This is getting silly. At least the boat that broke down and had a guy he towed years before was mechanical failure - and it wasn't too late at night. |

Sadly, only about 50% ( one can hope! ) will learn from the experience. The rest think it is wonderful that you "protected them" and will learn little/nothing. << sigh >>
btw: Thank you for protecting those who got it right from all of the flotsam. |

it was blowing last night! and it's f...g cold this morning!!!
what' the story with that big ketch aground at the end of the mooring field?
yesterday around 4:30 there was a woman on a Pearson 36 calling Nantucket Moorings for help... lost power off L4, and drifted on another sailboat pulpit. rushed over with the tender, had to deal with a bossy skipper who kept telling me what to do and coudlnt' understand that you can not tow a boat using just one line attached to one stern cleat...
finally got her loose off the bow of the bow, then had to take her on the hip and again she woudn't get it. always nice to help to get yelled at! "I am a licensed captain" she said, " just pull me with one line"! finally one of her crew came on the tender to help me tie alongside before we got to another boat and i was able to bring her back to her own mooring on the hip... |

Yeah, I woke up to that boat this morning. Not sure how they grounded. It is perfect outside, though, isn't it? Not too hot, not at all chilly - perfect weather. And dry enough I might be able to finish gluing the last tabs on an Avon's new transom.
I'll bet I can guess which boat it was at 0430. There were several all night - one that I really have to wonder about. If you had the radio on I'm sure you heard it and know which one I mean - the one telling me it was gusting over 50 knots. 20-25 at one point when it veered east sometime around midnightish, but I missed the 50 knot gusts somehow. |

| Yep, highest gust recorded at NTKM3 was 22.9kts NNE at 1:06 AM. That's on a pole right at or near your station isn't it? |
